Dark Energy is a force exists in the absence of light. It cannot be seen nor coexist with other forms of energy and matters since it swallows its surroundings in an accelerating rate. Inspired by this scientific phenomenon, I created 3 humanized representations to depict Dark Energy’s sense of loneliness and perhaps being misunderstood.
The installation was set in a pitch black forgotten alley in San Francisco. Using multiple projectors and hand-cut letters on a piece of emulation sheet. I tried to create a story of darkness swallows the space with a sense of lonely, castaway, ignored, and misunderstood feels.
To carry the theme of “Exist but Cannot Be Seen.” I created a book that cannot be read. On each page, I illustrated and documented a time-sensitive event, then I covered each page in white paint symbolizing the erase of the memories.
Follow the urlwritten on the cover of the Dark Energy book. Visitors are permitted to visit the website containing the memories behind the white paint one time.
