ShowStream is a OS app concept from Verizon that aggregates and recommends produced video content from multiple platforms. Users can then watch video content directly in the app, and can chat between friends for social interaction and for trusted recommendations.
IDENTIFY THE PROBLEMS
The problem with today’s video content is that they are cluttered and scattered over tons of platforms. Since there are many different user watching behaviors and even more video providers, and there is a lack of good produced content search engines, it makes the experience overwhelming, inaccurate, wasteful, and frustrating.
-BUILDING PERSONAS & FINDING SOLUTIONS
My teammate and I started the project with building personas. Obviously everyone can benefit from using ShowStream, but to maximize the app functionality we identified Ryan as our main persona. Ryan is 28-year old career man who lives in the city, is tech savvy, takes public transit, which contributes to his snack size watching habit, and is selective on his video choices but is adventurous to new topics.
After identifying the most on-demand user behavior, we quickly brainstormed several wireframes while tackling different challenges. Solutions included quick browsing, customizable feeds, easy-to-access and organized folders, in-app chat with friends, and the ability to follow friends and professionals.
